Mining Shadow Cast Over New National Park

The government has confirmed its commitment to establishing the major new Dharawal National Park near Campbelltown, an area of pristine bushland and rivers about two-thirds the size of the Royal National Park.

But Dharawal is still covered by coalmining and other minerals extraction licenses, and it is still unclear whether part of national parks management budget of $40 million may have to be diverted to secure Dharawal as a mining-free zone.   Read More
