NSW CSG Parliamentary Inquiry Day 1

The NSW Parliamentary inquiry into coal seam gas (CSG) is officially under way with the committee travelling to Queensland for the first day of meeting landholders, communities, and gas companies.

An early morning flight took the politicians from Sydney to the sunshine state for their first fly-over above the frontline of the CSG industry in Australia: Chinchilla, a town about 300 kilometres west of Brisbane.

It is here that the parliamentary committee had the opportunity to witness the scale of commercial CSG projects, and get a sense of the surface impact of such mining operations.
