The Conservation Council says any changes to the State
Government's 'first in first served' water policy should apply
retrospectively.
The Water Minister Bill Marmion announced a review of the policy after a
backlash from farmers in the Mid West.
They were angry Gindalbie Metals had been granted a licence to draw five
gigalitres, or five billion litres, of water from the Mingenew aquifer.
Mr Marmion says all policy options will be considered but the changes will
not apply retrospectively.
