Reaction to Dandaragan Potash Mine Mixed

AFTER laying claim to the world's biggest potash deposit in the Dandaragan Trough, WA exploration company Potash West has increased its landholding to 2905 square kilometres.

But news of the 798km2 expansion sparked mixed reaction among farmers as they wondered what kind of impact potential potassium mines could have on the local agricultural environment.
 
Late last month Farm Weekly received a strong response from readers when it reported on Potash West's intention to survey 2107km2 of prime farmland for greensand deposits, to extract potassium from glauconite to produce potash.
