Knowledge Box Full of Coal and Gas Facts

While residents grasped at any form of certainty, the Upper Hunter Shire Council gave away no clues on their position on coal and coal seam gas mining during the two day forum this week.

Using the forum as a valuable information gathering tool, the councillors have made a concerted effort over the past four months to gain as much information about the two industries, the companies governing them and the wants and needs of the local community before making any decisions.
 
Various speakers presented throughout the two days including representatives from coal seam gas companies Santos, Planet Gas Limited, AGL Energy Limited, landowners opposing coal mining and coal seam gas exploration, a Department of Planning and Infrastructure representative and other independent speakers.
