More than 220 people voted to call on AGL to commit to have the company cease any further physical disturbance of the surface of AGL’s entire project area of 220 square kilometres until a fully independent and comprehensive ground water and surface water study of the area had been completed and the results made public.
The unanimous resolution followed a public presentation by Professor Philip Pells in Gloucester last Wednesday, who stepped the audience through the AGL water study for Stage 1 of its Gloucester coal seam gas project.
Alliance spokesman and Chairman of its CSG Strategy Group EB Phillips said the motion expressed the grave misgivings of the community about the limited Stage 1 Water Study that has just been released by AGL.
Philip Pells addressed the meeting to deliver his verdict on the AGL study, following his independent and self-funded review of the AGL Stage 1 Water Study.
Professor Pells said the review covers only 0.25% of the total project area covered by the AGL application.
