Fracking — a word not listed in some dictionaries or recognized by computer spell checks.
Remember the nice folks in television ads recently telling about how their companies drill far below the surface for new sources of fuel to make life better for all of us?
Fracking isn’t mentioned, but that is the process.
When proposals to allow fracking in North Carolina come before the Legislature again, I wonder if the ads will return to being shown on TV?
The gas industry has its sights set now on the Sanford area. But there are potential gas fields near us. Actually, one potential site supposedly is located in the middle of the county.
Obviously landowners will be attracted to selling mineral rights for the gas. Jobs? A few I’m sure.
