Clean energy rally at Blacktown Village Green on Thursday February 9

Clean energy rally at Blacktown Village Green on Thursday February 9

RESIDENTS are invited to attend a clean energy rally at the Village Green in Blacktown at 6pm on Thursday.

It is next to Blacktown Council at Flushcombe Road.

The rally is jointly organised by members of The Greens, Nature Conservation Council NSW, Coal Seam Gas Blacktown group and Parramatta Climate Action Network.

Ben Hammond, convenor of Blacktown Greens said this year would be an important year for the clean energy movement in NSW.

He said the state government recently released the draft NSW Wind Farm Planning Guidelines for public comment and a Renewable Energy Action Plan for NSW was being development.

‘‘The reality is that without a vibrant wind industry we are left with coal seam gas and if these planning guidelines become law the industry will collapse in the state,’’ he said.

‘‘With the first sitting day of NSW Parliament on Valentine’s Day, environment groups are asking supporters to show their love for renewable energy by sending a Valentine’s Day card to Premier Barry O’Farrell.

‘‘This will tell him we love clean energy and why we have a crush on wind farms.’’
Confirmed speakers are John Kaye, Greens MLC, Jacinta Green, vice president of Lock the Gate and Ben Hammond from Stop CSG Blacktown.

For more information phone Ben on 0406 165 967.
