Mining Monitors Under Wraps

A Sydney-based environmental consultancy says it would be highly unlikely for air monitoring equipment measuring dust from the Hunter region's coal mines to be wrapped in shade-cloth.

Residents living near the Stratford and Duralie mines in the Gloucester region say they are worried about the accuracy of noise and dust monitoring in the area.

They have reported seeing monitoring equipment wrapped in shade-cloth and say they are concerned that the results cannot be trusted.

But, Aleks Todoroski from Todoroski Air Sciences says although noise monitors need to have wind socks to reduce wind noise, he would be surprised if dust monitoring equipment was wrapped.   Read More
