The latest poll by Galaxy Research showed that 70 per cent of Australians want coal seam gas mining prohibited in cities and towns while 68 per cent want a moratorium on coal seam gas (CSG).
The poll resulted from 1048 interviewees aged 18 and over.
In NSW there was 74 per cent in support of a moratorium, which will put pressure on Premier Barry O’Farrell to take action to protect communities from the effects of CSG.
“It’s clear from these results that coal seam gas has not been granted a social licence,” said the NSW Greens mining spokesperson, Jeremy Buckingham. Read More
