Activist group GetUp has launched an anti-coal seam gas campaign, in response to a pro-CSG media campaign by the oil and gas industry.
The GetUp television ads feature farmers from Queensland and NSW who say their land, livelihood and health have already been damaged by coal seam gas.
Campaign director with GetUp, Paul Oosting, says the group is putting its support behind federal independent MP Tony Windsor, who will introduce a bill next week to halt CSG expansion.
"There's a huge amount of support right across the country for there to be proper regulation of coal seam gas mining, which still is not happening," he said.
"The work needs to be done to find if there is a way this industry can properly co-exist, and not damage the environment and people's health."
