AMBRE Energy has not given up on hopes of mining the Felton Valley despite the State Government standing firm on its commitment to stop the project.
Ambre wants the opportunity to convince the community and government that its controversial Darling Downs coal mine and petrochemical plant should be allowed to proceed.
It has also appointed lobbyist David Moore, who has worked as now Deputy Premier Jeff Seeney's chief of staff, as an adviser and consultant.
The move has been viewed by anti-mine group Friends and Felton as a direct attempt to sway LNP opinion on the project.
Mr Seeney recently reinforced the State Government's stance on Ambre Energy's plans when responding in Parliament to a question on notice.
He said that the government's pre-election commitment to block Ambre's attempts to mine the Felton Valley had not changed.
