Arrow celebrates powerful year

ARROW Energy is celebrating the first anniversary of its ownership of Dalby's gas-fired Braemar 2 power station with record reliability and no injuries in the last 12 months.

CEO Andrew Faulkner said Braemar 2, Queensland's second-largest gas-fired power station, had provided 365 days of uninterrupted electricity to about three per cent of Queensland and NSW.

"Today marks the first anniversary of full ownership of the Braemar 2 power station, about 40km south-west of Dalby," Mr Faulkner said.

Braemar 2 is a gas-fired peaking power station, providing 450MW of responsive generation at times of high electricity demand in Queensland.

Its three 150MW Siemens turbines are powered by coal seam gas which means the plant has a smaller carbon footprint and emits about 40 per cent less carbon emission than coal-fired.
