When: Wednesday, March 7, 2012
Time: 9:00am until 12:00pm
Where: See Below
Very soon, UNESCO (The World Heritage Committee) will be here to express concern about the impact the Gladstone Harbour development projects will have on the reef and a number of endangered species, especially the dredging works.
UNESCO will undertake an international mo...nitoring mission in Gladstone Harbour to scrutinise conservation efforts of Curtis Island, Great Barrier Reef and surrounding marine park.
UNESCO arrive in Gladstone in March (7th or 8th TBA).
To coincide with this, three committed souls - June Norman, Potts Driscoll and a dog named Bindi- have commenced a walk from DALBY to GLADSTONE, along the route of a proposed Coal Seam Gas pipeline. This is an amazing effort, for no personal gain, to highlight the issues about the CSG industry
__________________________ _______________________
This is the time to stand up, and stand together.
You are invited to walk with June, from the outskirts of Gladstone to the Gladstone airport and show not only UNESCO, but the community, the media and the government, we will not stay silent and let the corporations continue this destruction.
We will walk together in peaceful protest, to symbolise our love for our natural environment and our demand for sustainable industries.
When UNESCO arrive in Gladstone, they must be shown that we want the Great Barrier Reef protected, forever.
That we will not let corporations have their way at others' and the environment's expense any longer.
