Coal Seam Gas meeting raises more questions

Jury still out on Coal Seam Gas

Farmers and politicians are saying it loud and clear:

"Compensation just isn't good enough for farmers affected by Coal seam gas activities"

That was one issue of many raised at a meeting yesterday at Mullaley, west of Gunnedah.

It was organised by the Marys Mount Protection Alliance, to discuss the coal seam gas exploration site at "Kahula".

Melanie Sim was at the packed community hall, and put together a report for ABC Local radio, starting with a chat to Alliance Secretary Judi Sheedy.

Santos, the company undertaking the exploration at Kahula west of Gunnedah, wasn't invited to yesterday's meeting.

But Sam Crafter, Manager of community and government relations NSW for Santos says the work they have been doing will add to research on coal seam gas.

You can listen to Melanies report here.
