The Bass Coast Shire will discuss the latest proposal to explore for coal and gas resources in the region, at a public briefing tonight.
Leichardt Resources applied for an exploration licence last month to search for coal and coal seam gas (CSG) in the Bass Coast.
If granted, the exploration licence would cover the Cape Paterson, Inverloch, Pound Creek and Tarwin Lower areas.
The Queensland-based company already has a permit to explore a neighbouring area in South Gippsland.
