Bligh pitches for the Queensland vote

The incumbent Queensland Premier Anna Bligh told ABC Local Radio that voters should look not only to her track record, but to what exciting plans a re-elected Labor government has for the state when they take to the ballot box at the upcoming election.

"It fell to me to steer Queensland through two of our most difficult and disastrous events - the Global Financial Crisis that hit our state very hard and the worst natural disasters that Australia has seen in our recorded history.

"Having seen Queensland through those two very extreme situations, my policies and our governments efforts have positioned us as a state right now on the door step of some of the biggest opportunities we've ever had.

But Ms Bligh said her constituents want to hear about what a Labor Government will do next if elected to lead the state for the next 3 years.

"I think what people want to hear in an election campaign is what we'll do next. I'm very proud of the record that Labor has in a number of very important areas of state government administration."

Ms Bligh took the opportunity to endorse her governments "Mines to Minds" policy to channel 50 per cent of liquefied natural gas royalties into education initiatives, including $4000 education/training scholarships for year 12 graduates from 2015; and the "Green Corridor" policy that would ban coal-seam gas and mining development within nature reserves in an attempt to create a 2200km "green corridor" across southern Queensland.

Editor's Note:  "Mines to Minds"... what a crock!  If the Bligh Government hadnt sold off Queensland, we wouldnt have to be listening to this drivel!
