"We are Lock The Gate"

Our message is starting to become dinner table conversation around Australia. People are hearing about a growing movement, supported by both the city and country, trying to protect our agricultrual land, water supplies and the natural environment.

In a little over 12 months the Lock the Gate movement has become a recognised brand around the country. It is time we put a face to that name.

Our alliance is made up of thousands of members and supporters from across the country. Many, if not most, are from regional areas but the organisation has broad support in the community. Our members include farmers, business people, scientists, nurses, teachers, environmentalists and many more; regular people concerned about what coal seam gas and coal mining is doing to our land, water and environment.

We want to paint a picture for all Australians that our movement is for all Australians. Let's show the public and our politicians who the Lock the Gate Alliance is. We are calling it the "We are Lock the Gate" campaign. We are asking you to put your face and story to this campaign and let us know so we can get it up on the website. Here is Graham and Nell's story:

Graham Dunn and Nell Geddes, Scenic Rim Qld - Retired Farmers
Keep the Scenic Rim Scenic

Nell and I have always had an affinity with the bush. For much of my life I was a farmer in the South Burnett. I have always battled for good quality water and this led me to Upper Christmas Creek in the Scenic Rim. In 2010 we found out that Coal Seam Gas companies had an 'Authority to Prospect' over much of our local area. Since then, and in conjunction with other concerned locals, we have been actively opposing these companies. We are hardly activists; we merely want good uncontaminated water, clean not foul air, wholesome food and finally, housing that we do not have to abandon, because of pollution. Surely this is the right of every Queenslander and Australian.
