Queensland graziers, indigenous people and environment groups have formed an alliance to pressure the state Opposition Leader, Campbell Newman to commit to the state's wild rivers laws. The laws have faced fierce resistance on Cape York from Aboriginal leader Noel Pearson. The new alliance has released an analysis that shows 85 per cent of the Lake Eyre Basin in Western Queensland is covered by exploration permits for oil and gas.
