CSG exploration licences cover the entire Illawarra and drilling approvals have been granted in and around our drinking water catchment. A production field would result in up to 200 production wells in this area alone. If we don’t stop it, who will?

This community has – so far – halted the plan to develop a gas field in our drinking water catchment. But, unbelievably given the mounting evidence of the risks, the state government still supports the industry. It’s up to us. How will we be heard? What are the next steps? Everybody is invited to this community conference to discuss CSG in the Illawarra. Your voice is needed and it will make a difference.
First Session
The day’s first session will feature expert speakers on the coal seam gas industry, the risks involved and the campaign for a moratorium. Important subjects that will be covered include the potential impacts of CSG on our water resources, the scope of the CSG industry nation wide and the effects of the industry on jobs, how the community campaign can respond to government support for the industry and more.
Speakers (more will be added as they confirm):
- Mark Ogge, Strategic Director, Beyond Zero Emissions
- Jess Moore, Spokesperson, Stop CSG Illawarra
