Blacktown clean energy supporters send message to Premier

FOUL weather failed to stop a keen group of people from attending a clean energy rally in Blacktown last Thursday.

They carried anti-coal seam gas placards and shouted slogans at the Village Green next to Blacktown Council.

They also collected signatures for a Valentine's Day card sent to Premier Barry O'Farrell showing their love for clean energy.

The rally was organised by members of The Greens, Nature Conservation Council NSW, Coal Seam Gas Blacktown group and Parramatta Climate Action Network.

Ben Hammond, convenor of Blacktown Greens, urged supporters to show their love for renewable energy by sending a card to Mr O'Farrell in time for Parliament's first sitting day this year (it also happens to be Valentine's Day).

"This will tell him we love clean energy and why we have a crush on wind farms," he said.

"This is an important year for the clean energy movement in NSW with the government's release of the draft NSW Wind Farm Planning Guidelines for public comment and the development of a Renewable Energy Action Plan for NSW."
