Greens, Katter oppose mining




FOR four decades the founder of the Queensland Greens Drew Hutton has been throwing his lanky frame into the hurly burly of most significant environmental stoushes.

And of late Mr Hutton has been at the forefront of Lock The Gate confrontations, standing alongside farmers who want to save their land and the water table from the worst outcomes of coal seam gas mining.

Known for his uncompromising stances, Mr Hutton was prepared to join forces with political maverick Bob Katter and his Australian Party to oppose what they both see as a major threat to wellbeing of all Queenslanders.

In Noosa Australian Greens candidate Dr Jim McDonald has been consistently raising concerns about the threat of coal seem gas encroaching ever closer to the Noosa region and how no-one may be safe from at least exploration.
