Coal Seam gas protest takes over NSW Parliament

ANTI-COAL seam gas protesters screaming ``shame, shame’’ briefly took over the NSW Parliament’s Lower House today.

Legislative Assembly Speaker Shelley Hancock was forced to eject the 40 odd protesters and eventually cleared MPs out of the House until police and special constables would take back control about 5pm.
About 100 protesters had gathered outside Parliament earlier in the afternoon calling for a moratorium on coal seam gas mining until further investigation into the health, water and environmental impacts have been conducted.
Balmain Greens MP Jamie Parker had just finished presenting 10,000 signatures to the House, condemning coal seam gas when the shouting broke out.
He was denied leave to speak on the matter and Parliament will debate the matter at a later date.
