STATE Planning Minister Brad Hazzard will be in Singleton on April 13 to discuss his government’s contrversial draft strategic regional land use strategy.
He will speak at a public forum in the civic centre auditorium between noon and 2pm.
The draft strategy drew opposition from farmers, vignerons, environmentalists and civic leaders when it was made public last week, mainly because it did not guarantee sensitive land would be protected from coal and coal seam gas mining.
Mr Hazzard’s media spokesman Mark Skelsey said the forum format was still being finalised and other speakers, including various experts, would join Mr Hazzard.
“This will be an opportunity for the public to discuss the strategy with Mr Hazzard,” he said.
“In addition, we are also looking to organise community drop-in sessions so people can express their concerns and discuss matters on a one to one basis with a public servant.”
More details of the forum will be made available soon.
