The Mid-Western Community Action Network (MWCAN) will host two public meetings opposing coal and coal seam gas (CSG) extraction next month in the lead up to a national Defend Our Water day of action.
Lock The Gate Alliance members Michael and Julie NcNamara will address meetings in Running Stream and Mudgee in September.
They will be promoting a national day of action on Sunday, October 16, when rallies will be held simultaneously in capital cities and rural and regional communities.
MWCAN president Barbara Hickson said water quality and local water supplies in the Goulburn and Cudgegong River catchments were under threat, as were significant and long-term sustainable local industries in this region such as agriculture and tourism.
