THE NSW Minerals Council says the Hunter will miss out on infrastructure as the mining industry is "tossed around like a political football between Sydney and Canberra".
The state government has raised mining royalties to help plug its revenue shortfalls and shield the budget against the effects of the Gillard government's carbon tax.
The move has angered the federal government.
Federal Treasurer Wayne Swan has threatened to withhold infrastructure funding, proceeds of the Commonwealth's mineral resources rent tax. Read More
