Protesters are back at a Metgasco work site at Shannonbrook, near Casino.

A Lismore man was arrested and charged with trespass yesterday after he chained himself to a bulldozer.

Metgasco, which is exploring for coal seam gas in the area, is digging a water storage dam on the site.

Ian Gaillard, from the Northern Rivers branch of the Lock the Gate Alliance, says opponents of the industry are armed with shovels and prepared to fill in the dam.

"People are concerned, they will take action," he said.

"I think it's a light-hearted move, people are here with their shovels and we'll see what happens."

Meanwhile, the State Government says the Richmond Valley Council gave Metgasco approval for the waste water pond.
