UNESCO reef visit: Tony Burke

As we've been following on RN Breakfast, a UN team is in Australia to inspect the Great Barrier Reef, beginning today with a meeting with Federal Environment Minister Tony Burke.

This will be followed by visits to the Great Barrier Reef and areas earmarked for expansion to cater for Queensland's resources boom.

Editor's Note:  Mr Bourke offers a comment.  Believe it or not Tony Burke is Minister for Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities! This is his take on the the World Heritage values of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park on Radio National Breakfast today. The country is still waiting for Mr Bouke to offer a comment about saving our national icon, the koala. We wait with baited breath.
