Rivers SOS plans regional meeting in Wollondilly shire: 31st March

A visit to the dry Thirlmere Lakes will conclude the Rivers SOS regional meeting in Wollondilly shire this weekend

WOLLONDILLY shire will play host to environment group Rivers SOS’ 12th regional meeting this month.

Rivers SOS members will meet at the Wollondilly Community Nursery on Wonga Rd, Picton, on March 31, and the shire community is also invited to attend.

The meeting will include talks from Shadow Environment Minister Luke Foley, Greens MLC Jeremy Buckingham and possibly Wollondilly state Liberal MP Jai Rowell, from 10am.

There will also be a panel discussion from 2pm on issues such as mining and the coal seam gas industry.

Save Our Water Catchments founder Dr Peter Turner, Illawarra swamp expert Dr Ann Young and representatives from Wollondilly and Wingecarribee councils will be part of the panel discussion.
The meeting will conclude on March 31 with a trip to Thirlmere Lakes - an area (pictured) which is of great concern to Rivers SOS members with its continually low water levels. For more details: 4636 6301 or 4630 9421.
