Greens want Qld upper house restored




The Greens will fight for the reinstatement of an upper house in Queensland, blaming the unicameral system for the party's absence in the state parliament.

The party officially launched its state election campaign on Friday, saying it wants a moratorium on coal seam gas (CSG) projects and new laws to make lying to parliament a crime.

Greens candidate for Mt Coot-tha Adam Stone said the lack of an upper house in Queensland made it much harder for smaller parties to enter parliament.

Mr Stone said the Greens had healthy electoral support, citing the party's nine federal senators and five upper house MPs in NSW.
