Dam busters target mines : Meeting Monday 19 March

GROUPS that successfully fought to keep the Traveston Crossing Dam from destroying productive Mary Valley farming land now fear a threat from coal seam gas mining.

They want LNP leader Campbell Newman to call a moratorium on both coal seam gas mining and coal mining in the wider Mary River catchment which is already covered by coal and CSG exploration permits, according to current Queensland Department of Mines and Energy maps.
The Gympie Water, Air and Soil Protection Group will hold a public forum for candidates next Monday to explain their position on protecting the Mary River from coal seam gas and coal mining.
It will be held at the Community Band Hall, 16 Red Hill Rd at 7pm.
