CSG haste like a gold rush

A LOCAL MP has described the haste to take coal seam gas out of the ground as akin to the Gympie goldrush of the 1880s.

The independent Member for Nicklin Peter Wellington told the Noosa News authorities have to ensure miners get the science right to protect underground water supplies and our food security.
He accused the Labor Government and the LNP Opposition of being keen supporters of the CSG industry, but accusations that the Sunshine Coast area was at risk from this form of mining was nothing more than politicking.
"The talk is of CSG in Noosa and the hinterland," Mr Wellington said.
