The much anticipated Namoi Water Study was originally expected to be completed and released this month.

The study was born out of concerns of farmers on the Liverpool plains several years ago when they became aware that the area was the target of major coal mining projects.

The study involves creating a model to address surface water and groundwater within the Namoi Catchment.

It'll be used to assess risks associated with coal mining and coal seam gas development on water resources within the Catchment.

It has now grown to include all mining and coal seam gas projects in the Catchment.
