Alan Jones wishes he ran for Qld election

Broadcaster Alan Jones regrets not having thrown his hat in the Queensland election ring.

Mr Jones on Monday told AAP he feels so strongly about the mining industry's threat on prime farming land that he wished he was a candidate in the March 24 state election.

"I think I should have run at this election and I made a mistake by not (running)," he said.
"I am a Queenslander. I do own property here.

"This issue of food security needs a voice and I would have only run on the basis of articulating that voice but I would not have expected people to vote for me."
