Screening of Gasland: Mona Vale, NSW

Where:    Mona Vale Community Hall, 1606 Pittwater Road, Mona Vale, Australia

When:     Friday   25 November, 2011 - 7.30pm

Hello all, If you are interested or concerned about the Coal Seam Gas Industry then this is the documentary to watch. This is an important film about the American Experience and the horrors this industry has created in many parts of that continent.
Gasland, a film by Josh... Fox, won the special Jury prize at the Sundance film festival and has been nominated for an oscar this year.

This is the film that alerted the wider public to what has been happening by stealth and obfuscation for years in America.

I was shocked, after seeing it, to discover the extent of this extremely destructive industry in Australia.

Did you know that there is a well in Newtown? It's 200 metres away from homes!

We are, unfortuantely, in the midst of a gas rush, with all it's greed and avarice. This industry if left unstopped destroys the water table and destroys the land they mine. There are thousands and thousands of wells planned all over the most beautiful and productive parts of our country.

I'm sure you've heard about the campaigns on the Liverpool Plains, in Queensland and Northern NSW. Perhaps you have even heard about the campaign to stop mining in suburban Sydney.

A group of concerned individuals have come together to organise a showing of this fantastic film which will be supported by a talk by Jacinta Green of 'Sydney Residents against Coal Seam Gas'.If you go here - http://www.gasland.com.au/ You can see a trailer of the movie.

If you go here you can see a fifteen minute film made about the situation Queensland. - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2w5KpKe0ys4 This was done by the 'Lock the Gate' alliance. Check out their website - http://lockthegate.org.au/

Come along to this screening. It will be an opportunity to have your questions answered and get a sense both of what is happening and what you can do.

Would you like a gas well near your home? Don't laugh. It could happen. This website belongs to the NSW government -

Australians need to do something now!
