Boom Delivers $1.6bn Surplus for the West

WESTERN Australia has crashed back into the boom times with a massive $1.6 billion budget surplus for 2010-11.
The result - the best in the nation - is five times the original $286 million forecast and double the revised $784m estimate announced just four months ago.

It was helped by mining royalties worth a whopping $4.2bn for the year, almost $2bn better than the previous 12 months.
