Count the wells, says Scenic Hills Association spokeswoman Jacqui Kirkby

CAMDEN region residents need to educate themselves about coal seam gas wells, a representative of a group dedicated to protecting the region against urban and industrial encroachment has said.

Scenic Hills Association spokeswoman Jacqui Kirkby, who is also a Camden Gas Project Community Consultative Committee representative, said residents should take note of the numbers of wells in their area and plans for more.

“I would say to Camden residents that coal seam gas mining has not been proved safe,” she said.

“It’s inappropriate to put coal seam gas wells, which is heavy industry, into residential and environmental protection areas in the Sydney Metropolitan Area.”
