Could Australia Learn Lessons From American Gas Extraction?

It's a boom at the moment in Queensland as far as coal seam gas is concerned.

Various companies, like Santos, Arrow and QGC, are in a race to get gas from the Surat Basin pumped to Gladstone and then processed ready for export as LNG.

But it's not without controversy...landholders are particularly concerned about the environmental impacts, what CSG extraction will mean for their property's production potential not just now, but well into the future.

In America the industry is ten years ahead of Australia, so can we learn from the United States' experience?

The University of Sydney's US Studies Centre is hosting a CSG forum in Brisbane today.
They've sought the help of Dr Ian Duncan, he's a Research Scientist at the University of Austin in Texas.
