Wollondilly shire residents take gas mining stand



OPPOSITION against coal seam gas mining in water catchment areas is growing with the formation of a community action group.

A group of residents has convened the Stop CSG Sydney Water Catchment committee and hosted three public meetings.

Committee president Hilton Gibbs said the group would host a public meeting on the first Tuesday of each month at the Oakdale Workers Club at around 7pm. The next meeting is scheduled for May 1.

“The whole mission statement of the group is to stop coal seam gas mining in the Sydney water catchment,” Mr Gibbs said.
