The oil and gas company Woodside says it remains committed to processing gas from the Browse Basin in Western Australia despite attempts from the Northern Territory to poach the project.
The territory's Chief Minister Paul Henderson said he had been in talks with Woodside about basing its LNG hub in Darwin.
The proposed $35 billion gas project at James Price Point, north of Broome, suffered a setback last week with the Supreme Court declaring the WA State Government's land acquisition notices were invalid.
Mr Henderson said there was a lack of certainty in the Kimberley, making Darwin a more attractive option.
He says he is going to try convince Woodside to look at the Northern Territory instead.
