Miners and farmers are seething over the timing of the Queensland government's declared protection of the Lake Eyre Basin under Wild Rivers legislation.
The Queensland Resources Council and Agforce says the government did not provide time for adequate consideration after close of submissions on November 28.
Queensland Environment Minister Vicky Darling has announced three Wild River declarations for the Cooper Creek, Georgina and Diamantina catchments.
"This will be a watershed moment for the mighty Lake Eyre Basin in Queensland and its environmental protection now and into the future," Ms Darling said on Saturday.
