Information Night: There is an alternative to Coal and CSG

Where:   The Club House, 6-12 Petersen St, Beaudesert, Queensland

When:     Wednesday, December 14, 2011:  7.00pm - 10.00pm

With exploration happening across 80% of Scenic Rim, an Information Night is being held to outline a sound alternative to meeting our energy needs now and into the future without Coal and Coal Seam Gas.

Launched to a packed audience in Brisbane in June, the Zero Carbon A...
ustralia 2020 Stationary Energy Plan, Rob Farago from Beyond Zero Energy sets out a ten year roadmap for 100% renewable baseload energy affordable at $8 per household per week using technologies that are commercially available today.

Andy Grodecki, Greens Candidate for Beaudesert who will be chairing the Information Night says “We know Coal Seam Gas exploration is concerning a lot of people in the Scenic Rim and is dividing communities around the country. We also know that Coal Seam Gas, that is converted into Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), is more greenhouse gas intensive than coal when used for electricity generation whether it's in Australia or China. Switching to gas-fired generation is not cleaner it means more Coal Seam Gas wells and more fugitive emissions. Zero Carbon Australia has come up with a very grounded engineering blueprint of how we can we can meet our energy needs without Coal and CSG – we need to hear about this”

Andy said: “There is a fantastic economic and jobs opportunity awaiting us. The recently announced Clean Energy Finance Corporation will have $1 billion to support the rollout of renewable energy in Australia. This will be a huge stimulus to a renewable based economy and create thousand of jobs”.
The Information Night organised by Scenic Rim Greens is open to all with entry by donation. Anyone wishing to attend should RSVP to this event or to Andy Grodecki on 0411 361 044 by SMS with “YOURNAME info night ” or leave a message

Presenter:
Rob Farago has an engineering degree and for more than 20 years he has worked on writing software, building the internet and installing renewable energy - sometimes simultaneously. He is one of over 100 volunteers around Australia with BZE sharing their vision of 100% renewable energy by 2020.
