Farmers want NuCoal exploration licence suspended

New South Wales farmers say it is extraordinary that mining company NuCoal is still allowed to explore in the Hunter Valley despite the circumstances of its exploration licence.

Controversial former state minister Ian Macdonald granted the licence three years ago in circumstances which the state's corruption watchdog is now investigating.

Now after intervention by the State Government the miner has agreed to stay off one Hunter Valley farmer's land.

But farmers say the whole licence should be suspended until after the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) investigation is over.
