Hutton fronts court over CSG protest

Anti-coal seam gas (CSG) campaigner Drew Hutton has appeared in a southern Queensland court charged with obstructing a gas company.

About 20 farmers and supporters were outside the Dalby courthouse this morning to show their support.
Hutton, the president of the Lock the Gate Alliance, is charged over an incident at Tara, north-west of Toowoomba in March.

He is accused of obstructing a gas company from entering a property without reasonable excuse.
If Hutton loses the case, he could face a $50,000 fine.

Over the next two days he will argue he had a reasonable excuse.
