Federal Labor's policy U-turn on uranium sales to India could step up pressure on Queensland to overturn its ban on uranium mining.
After a heated debate the ALP voted to overturn a decades-long policy to ban uranium sales to India, which isn't a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
Labor factional warlord Bill Ludwig said the deal would add momentum to growing calls for the sunshine state to jump on the uranium mining bandwagon.
"It's something I would like to see overturned," the Queensland powerbroker told AAP in Sydney.
Queensland Premier Anna Bligh said ahead of the ALP national conference her state would maintain the ban.
