NATURAL gas from Santos's Reindeer field off the north-west Australian coast has been delivered to shore for the first time, the company said today.

Santos said the move was a major milestone in the development of the Reindeer/Devil Creek project, which is planned to initially produce 120 terajoules of natural gas a day.

Said John Anderson, Santos's vice-president for Western Australia and the Northern Territory: "With Devil Creek, (Western Australia) now has greater energy security with a third gas processing plant."

Santos has a number of contracts to supply gas from the project to energy-hungry mining operations in the area.
