STATE and federal energy ministers have agreed to revamp regulation of the coal-seam gas industry.
They made the decision to address community fears about its impact on the environment and groundwater supplies.
The energy ministers agreed yesterday to establish national regulations for the CSG industry to deal with the concerns about water management and monitoring, well integrity and aquifer protection, as well as hydraulic fracturing and chemical use.
But the Queensland government warned it would only sign up if the new framework did not create more red tape or block investment in the state's $45 billion CSG industry.
