Drew Hutton court case

Conservationist Drew Hutton has been in the Dalby Magistrates Court this week on charges of obstructing a coal seam gas (CSG) company during a protest in March this year. He’d joined a blockade against the construction of a CSG pipeline on Queensland's Western Downs and was charged under Section 804 of the Petroleum and Gas Act with obstructing a CSG company without reasonable excuse. The section guarantees mining and gas companies’ access to private land and the offence carries a potential $50,000 fine. The protest was at the Tara Estate, south of Chinchilla.
