The NSW Environment Minister, Robyn Parker, would not rule out allowing coal seam gas exploration licences in conservation areas, in a budget estimates hearing yesterday.

Questions were raised by Labor in relation to a proposal by Eastern Star Gas, now Santos, for a coal seam gas project that includes land in the protected Pilliga East State Conservation Area.
The opposition's environment spokesman, Luke Foley, called on the minister to rule out any approvals of such projects in protected areas.
